The planned site for the new construction of the Asia ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) Center is located adjacent to Motgol Village, which is single-house centered, and the Motgol Hanok Children’s Library. Also, it is located on the connecting point with the site for a park created according to the requirements for new development for urban infrastructure such as apartments and efficiency apartments.

In addition, it is located at the beginning of the existing single-house residential area, so it is necessary to create a link so that strangers do not feel awkward between a static residential area, the Motgol Hanok Children’s Library, the neighborhood park, and a dynamic urban infrastructure. We designed a closed mass for the static and dynamic outer spaces and a floor plan was created with a vacant courtyard.

The exhibition space and the neighboring facilities on the first floor are allocated as a place where people can interact with each other and the empty courtyard was planned as a vertical interactive transitional space to the upper offices. In order to open the closed mass, we tried to find a design element in the “mansal” and “sesal” patterns of a Hanok’s window for the static and dynamic outside window forms.

However, the change does not include the regularity and  protrusion of the mass, and the depth of the windows and changes in the shape come to an end on the east side of the park. The window of the courtyard, which is a transition space, was revitalized with irregularity in a static space. We look forward to seeing the inside of the building hanging in a frame at the exhibition showing the different arrangements in sizes and heights of the windows.

The main exterior panel has multiple colors depending on the folding of the surface and is able to accommodate changes in times and seasons so that different changes in the elevation can be produced. The ICT of the Asia Center is the foundation of the 4th industry, and big data, mobile technology, and wearables are becoming hot topics. Furthermore, the Internet enables not only connections between human beings and human beings, but also connections between human beings and objects, and connections of objects and objects.

As ICT implies, it is hoped that the changeable facade elements of the statically closed mass will create connections between the urban infrastructures and Motgol villages. The direction of the design could not be found and the sympathy and the breathlessness of the exhibitions of the building forests (architects’ work) lined up along the Gangnam street were experienced. It is hoped that the Asia ICT will become a sympathetic building in the Motgol village.

아세아 ICT 신축

아세아 ICT 신축 계획부지는 기존 단독주택 위주의 못골마을과 못골한옥어린이 도서관이 인접해 있으며, 아파트 및 오피스텔 등 도시기반시설 신규개발에 따라 조성된 공원부지 결절점에 위치하고 있다. 또한 기존 단독주택지의 초입에 위치하고 있어 지역주민의 삶의 터전에 허락없이 찾아온 이방인으로서 정적인 단독주택지, 못골한옥어린이도서관, 근린공원과 동적인 도시기반시설과의 연결고리를 만들 수 있는 계획안이 필요했다.

정적이 외부공간과 동적인 외부공간에 대하여 철저히 닫힌 공간으로 MASS를 구성하고 중정의 비움으로 평면의 구성방향을 계획하였다. 1층의 전시공간과 근린생활시설은 지역주민과 교류하는 장소로 할애하고, 비워 둔 중정은 상층부의 업무공간으로의 전이 공간으로 계획하여 수직적 교류공간으로 계획하였다.

닫아 둔 MASS의 입면을 열기 위해서 외부 창호 형태로 정적이지만 동적인 변화를 한옥의 창호의 만살문양, 세살문양에서 디자인 요소를 찾고자 노력하였다.

하지만 변화는 규칙성을 배제하고 MASS적인 돌출 또한 배제하며, 창호의 깊이감 및 형태의 변화는 동측 공원부에 이르러 규칙성으로 종결한다. 전이 공간인 중정의 창호는 다시 불규칙성으로 정적공간에 활력을 불어넣어 두었다.

건물 내부에서 바라보는 풍경은 서로 다른 창호의 배열(크기 및 높이 변화)에 따라 전시회에 걸려있는 그림액자처럼 경험해보기를 기대해본다. 주 외장재 판넬은 면의 꺾임에 따른 색 변위가 가장 많은 컬러로 선택하여, 시간대와 계절이 주는 변화를 담아낼 수 있도록 계획하여, 규칙성을 배제한 입면의 변화에 또 다른 이채로움이 연출될 수 있도록 하였다.

건물명 아세아 ICT 센터의 ICT(Information and Communications Technologies)는 4차산업의 기반이며, 빅데이터, 모바일, 웨어러블이 새로운 화두가 되고 있다. 더 나아가 사물 인터넷은 인간과 인간 사이의 연결뿐만 아니라 인간과 사물의 연결, 사물과 사물의 연결도 가능하게 한다.

ICT가 가지는 의미처럼 정적으로 닫힌 MASS에 변화감 있는 입면의 요소가 못골마을과 도시기반시설들 사이의 연결점을 만들 수 있기를 기대해 본다. 디자인 방향을 찾지 못하고 강남대로를 거닐면서 즐비하게 늘어선 빌딩숲의 전시회(건축가들의 작품)의 공감과 숨막힘을 경험했다. 아세아 ICT는 못골마을에 공감이 되는 건축물이 되기를 바란다.
