독일 작센주의 산업은행인 에스에이비 은행의 새 본사는 라이프치히 지역 사회의 새로운 랜드마크로 떠올랐다. 이는 이곳 에스에이비 은행이 단순 업무 시설 기능에서 확장한 공간임을 의미한다. 아크미는 자연을 닮은 형태를 통해 지속가능성과 혁신을 강조하는 에스에이비 은행의 다이내믹함을 표현하고자 하였다. 전면에 기둥을 앞세워 웅장함을 드러낸 전통적인 은행 건축물을 재해석하였고, 숲처럼 보이는 수백 개의 기둥으로 개방감과 투명함을 강조했다. 251개의 기둥으로 이루어진 이 ‘칼럼 가든’과 캐노피는 지열을 이용한 냉난방, 단열, 지하 주차장의 환기, 배수 등 다양한 역할을 수행하는 친환경적인 요소이다. 또한 인접한 고속 도로를 시각적으로 차폐하고 소음을 저감한다.

 

컨퍼런스 센터, 미팅룸, 레스토랑을 포함한 새로운 본사는 직원의 희망 사항을 반영하여 오픈 형태의 플렉스 오피스, 싱크 탱크, 미팅룸 등 다양한 모듈을 활용한 현대적이고 유연한 업무 공간으로 계획했다. 지역 사회에 공헌하는 에스에이비 은행의 이념을 강조하기 위해 대지의 절반인 한 블록을 공공 공간으로 계획하여 주민들이 오갈 수 있도록 제안하였다. 이는 바로크 시대에 기존 대지에 있던 정원인 ‘뢰르스 가르텐’을 오마주한 공간으로 숲과 같은 칼럼 가든, 거대한 중앙 오프닝과 조경, 벤치와 미러 연못을 통해 복잡한 도시에서 주민들이 잠시 숨을 돌리는 휴식처가 된다.

The new headquarters of SAB Bank, a federal development bank of the German state of Saxony, has emerged as a new landmark in the area of Leipzig. It marks the bank’s expansion from a simple office facility. Through forms that resemble nature, ACME sought to express the dynamism of SAB bank, which emphasizes sustainability and innovation. The design reinterprets traditional bank architecture, which displays grandeur with pillars on the front, and emphasizes openness and transparency with hundreds of columns that look like a forest. This ‘column garden’ and canopy, made up of 251 pillars, are eco-friendly elements that perform various roles including geothermal heating and cooling, insulation, ventilation for the underground parking garage, and drainage. It also visually shields the adjacent highway and reduces noise.

 

 

The new headquarters, which includes a conference center, meeting rooms, and a restaurant, was planned as a modern, flexible workspace with various modules such as open-plan flex offices, think tanks, and meeting rooms, reflecting the wishes of employees. To emphasize the bank’s philosophy of contributing to the local community, a block, which is half of the site, was proposed as a public space for residents to pass through freely. The space pays homage to Löhrs Garten, a baroque garden on the original site, and features a forest-like column garden, a large central opening and landscaping, benches, and a mirrored pond to provide a break from the bustling city.
