With the rapid development of the urbanization, the main urban area of Wenzhou is constantly expanding eastwards, so that the functions such as residence, living, work and learning need constant perfection. Niku-la, an enterprise that is committed to the educational cause, also goes with the tide of urban development and converts its old factory into a high-quality elementary school.
Architecture is frozen music and it is also a pleasant spatial sculpture. According to the characteristics of the original building space, on the premise of meeting the function requirement, create rich public space as much as possible to let in the sunshine and the wind, in order that the kids could find a lot of interesting playgrounds that accompany them in their growth and could enjoy spatial experience at several scales.
The exterior walls adopt perforated aluminum panels and the patterns adopt well-designed leaves and tree shadows. It aims to ensure that the kids could feel seasonal changes in their daily life and study. Set four landscape gardens according to the functional space of the buildings. Spring garden, summer garden, autumn garden and winter garden.
Space characteristic is the rotunda at the main entrance of the campus. This is the lobby that connects the external urban environment with the interiors of the campus, also the first space that the kids and their parents could see after walking up to the campus. It is not only the big reception hall for teachers to welcome kids before attending school, but also the waiting area for parents after school.
The giant backdrop below the dome of the hall will show various enlightening pictures according to the needs of different activities. In the center of the hall, the main staircase that keeps rising steadily will be-come the best memorable place for kids before entering the school and after graduation. For the building yard is long and narrow, the setting of an arc-shaped platform is a bright spot of the reconstruction design of the building.
The platform connects all functional buildings together, e.g. the buildings designed for the purpose of learning, life and entertainment. It is also a weatherproof corridor. Especially in Wenzhou, a city where the rainy season is long, it is very important. When the school holds a sports event, it can be used as a natural stand for kids to watch games. After transformation, the teaching space is larger than those of other conventional schools.
The setting of the atrium lighting courtyard can make the sunshine reach the teaching area on the ground floor through the space of four floors. The central suspended stairs can connect all floors. The activity space on the ground floor on the north side of the main teaching building. This design can provide kids with as much activity space as possible in rainy seasons.
Most of the space on the ground floor on the north side of the main teaching building is equipped with sunken playgrounds, in-door tracks, basketball courts, and multi-purpose space which combine slides with stairs and ladders. The spacious classroom contains a mezzanine which can provide a place for younger kids to have a nap. At the corners, there are spiral sliding ladders. The south side of the classroom is a large French sash, through which the kids could see the outdoor garden directly.
For the south teaching building, the classrooms on the second floor or above are equipped with double corridors, which are also the small gardens for the classrooms. All floors of the teaching building have several spacious and open public space, which is built into the space of different themes according to the ages of corresponding students. Besides, the space adopts digital multi-media. For example, the first floor is themed by Lego, the second floor is themed by art exhibitions and the fourth floor is themed by technology. The main teaching building contains standard indoor basketball courts. The multi-function hall is equipped with professional acoustic and video equipment, which can meet the needs of all kinds of activities.
원저우 달튼 초등학교
급격한 도시 개발로 원저우 도심은 계속 동쪽으로 확장 중이며, 그에 따라 주거, 생활, 고용, 교육 기능의 지속적인 확충이 요구되고 있다. 교육 사업을 중요시 하는 기업 니쿠라는 도시 개발의 물결에 편승해 옛 공장 건물을 수준 높은 초등학교로 전환했다. 기존 건축 공간의 특징과 기능적 요구를 반영하여 채광 및 통풍 유도를 위한 공용공간을 최대한 확보했고, 그를 통해 아이들이 자신의 성장을 지켜보는 여러 즐거운 놀이 공간을 이용하며 다양한 스케일의 공간 경험을 누릴 수 있도록 했다. 외부 벽에는 다공질 알루미늄 패널을 시공했고, 패널 패턴으로는 정교하게 디자인한 나뭇잎과 나무 그늘 형태를 적용했다. 조경은 아이들이 일상과 공부 중에 계절 변화를 느낄 수 있도록 하는 것이 목적이었다. 건물의 기능 공간 구성에 맞춰 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울 정원의 4개 조경 정원을 조성했다. 공간적 특성으로 학교 주 출입구 로톤다를 들 수 있다. 외부의 도시와 내부의 학교를 연결하는 로비로, 아이들과 학부모들이 함께 등교할 때 가장 처음 마주하게 되는 공간이다.
교사들이 등교하는 아이들을 맞이하는 커다란 리셉션 홀이자 방과 후에 학부모가 아이들을 기다리는 대기실이기도 하다. 홀 돔 아래로 탁 트인 배경은 갖가지 활동의 필요에 따라 여러 인상적인 장면을 연출해준다. 일정한 간격으로 상승하는 홀 중앙 계단은 입학을 앞둔 아이들과 졸업한 아이들에게 가장 기억에 남는 장소가 될 것이다. 길고 좁은 부지에서 곡선형 플랫폼은 건물의 재건축 시설 중에서도 가장 밝은 곳이다. 플랫폼은 학습, 생활, 오락 목적으로 설계된 모든 기능 시설을 연계해준다. 이는 날씨의 영향을 받지 않는 통로이기도 하다. 특히 우기가 긴 원저우에서는 매우 소중한 공간이다. 학교에 체육 행사가 있을 때는 아이들의 경기 관전을 위한 관람석으로 사용할 수도 있다. 시설 변경 후 교실이 다른 일반적인 학교들에 비해 넓어지게 되었다.
주 교사동의 중정에 빛을 공급해주는 아트리움은 4개 층을 지나 1층 교실에까지 햇빛이 다다를 수 있도록 해준다. 중앙 공중 계단은 모든 층을 연결해준다. 주 교사동 북측 1층 활동 공간의 디자인은 우기에도 아이들에게 최대한의 활동 공간을 제공해준다. 이 공간은 선큰 놀이터, 실내 육상 트랙, 농구장과 미끄럼틀, 계단, 사다리가 한 몸을 이루고 있는 다목적실 등으로 구성되어 있다. 널찍한 교실에는 어린 아이들의 낮잠 공간이 되는 중이층이 있고, 교실 모퉁이에는 나선형 미끄럼틀 사다리가 자리하고 있다. 교실 남쪽면에는 대형 프랑스풍 창문이 설치되어 있고, 아이들은 이를 통해 외부 정원을 조망할 수 있다. 남측 교사동의 경우 2층 이상의 교실들은 이중 복도를 갖추고 있는데 이들은 교실에 딸린 작은 정원이기도 하다. 교사동의 각 층은 여러 개의 넓은 개방형 공용공간을 포함하고 있고, 이들은 사용자 학생들의 연령에 맞춘, 각기 다른 주제 공간에 설치되어 있다. 이 공간은 디지털 멀티 미디어 시설 역시 갖추고 있다. 층별 테마는 1층은 레고, 2층은 예술 전시, 4층은 첨단 기술이다. 주 교사동에는 표준형 실내 농구장도 있다. 다목적 홀에는 전문 음향 및 영상 설비가 설치되어 있어 다양한 종류의 활동에 대응할 수 있다.
