INCHEON HINDOL CHURCH

The site has a triangular shape at the edge of the Asian Games Apartment Complex and the park connected to it. A door of blessing and white stone underscored the religious concept, and a church opened in a local old factory, a simple but beautiful space, brought in the architectural concept. Internal and external finishing materials were applied considering the properties of the materials.

In particular, the exterior wall was finished in exposed concrete in order to express a white stone and the interior was finished in exposed concrete and red brick. The first floor consists of a hall, cafe, and book cafe spaces. It is an open structure and is open to the road and the second floor, causing interest and curiosity for the church. The second floor consists of an office, a teaching room, and a chapel. The chapel is a place of strong religious feeling and is a site for dawn prayers and weddings. The ceiling is exposed concrete, and one side of the wall is stacked with bricks alternating with spaces, the soft light penetrates the inside. The other wall is made of glass, so it naturally draws in the nature outside.

The third floor is a shepherd's room, choir practice room, multipurpose room, and a small group room. The fourth floor is a large chapel, which is semi-circular. This structure type allows good communication, but it is acoustically disadvantaged. Various bricks stack methods, structures, and planned electrical acoustics make the light and sound spaces beautiful and harmonious. The fifth floor is the top floor space consisting of a dining area and an exterior deck which is connected to the roof floor to provide beautiful views. Incheon Hindol Church is a church open to a beautiful world through the use of materials that provide light and spac, and suggests a good direction and vision for future church design.

인천 흰돌교회

교회가 들어선 곳은 아시안게임 아파트 단지와 공원의 끝자락에 있는 삼각형의 대지다. 종교적 개념으로 축복의 문과 흰 돌, 건축적 개념으로는 지역교회에 열린 교회, 소박하지만 아름다운 공간, 재료의 물성을 고려한 내외부 재료가 적용됐다.

외벽 재료는 흰 돌을 표현하고자 노출 콘크리트가 사용됐으며, 내부 재료는 노출콘크리트와 붉은 벽돌이 사용됐다. 1층은 홀과 카페, 북카페 공간으로 지역에 열려 있는 구조로, 도로와 2층으로 개방되어 일반인에게 교회에 대한 관심과 호기심을 유발한다. 2층은 사무실, 교역자실, 소예배실이며, 소예배실은 새벽기도 및 결혼식 등을 위한 경건한 공간이다. 특히, 천장의 노출 콘크리트와 벽돌 영롱쌓기로 마감된 한 쪽 벽면은 빛이 내부로 은은하게 스며든다. 다른 벽은 전면 유리로 되어 있어 자연과 자연스럽게 교감한다.

3층은 목양실, 성가대 연습실 및 다목적실, 소그룹실이 4층은 대예배당으로 반원형의 형태를 띄고 있다. 이 구조는 소통과 교감이 좋지만 음향적으로는 불리한데, 다양한 벽돌 쌓기방식과 건축, 전기적 음향 계획으로 빛과 음향이 아름답고 조화롭도록 설계했다. 최상층인 5층은 식당 공간이며, 지붕과 연계된 외부 데크는 아름다운 조망을 제공한다. 인천 흰돌교회는 빛과 공간 재료가 아름다운 세상을 향해 열린 교회이며, 미래 교회설계의 좋은 방향과 비전을 제시한다.
