COEXISTENCE PLATFORM

We proposed a new concept of a coexistence platform that transforms the Sorae Port Fish Market, which was burned down in a fire in 2017, into an international-level cultural tourist attraction with new historicity and locality. Not only is there a market, but also various elements that attract visitors such as cafes, spice shops, kids cafes, and shopping spots, and the actively open space, where the sea and the port can be viewed, allows many people to feel the sentiment of Sorae Port. The coexistence platform is a new marketplace created with the symbolism of three elements as its motif. We planned a market with the history of Sorae through a market unit plan that reflected the selling space’s evolution, starting from one or two shrimp shops leading to the current Sorae Port Market. Rather than blocking the area on the north side with a wall, it was opened to create a market that can coexist with the nearby traditional market, and with multiple gates and intersections, we increased the accessibility of as many stalls as possible. The tidal channel, created naturally due to the movement of the high and low tides, symbolizes the lively and active Sorae Port. The various specialized spaces in the surrounding will coexist with each other under the element of the tidal channel’s path, and embody an attractive sight containing the nostalgia and sentiment of the port to become a pleasant fish market with a good view. The East Asian seepweed shows various appearances according to the change of seasons and has strong vitality. This is an element that symbolizes the strong will of the merchants of Sorae Port, who have made and protected Sorae Port against countless odds, and is reflected in the night view lighting of the building, becoming a new space at night.

포구 전망을 가진 상생(相生) 플랫폼, 신 소래포구 어시장
2017년 화재로 전소된 소래포구 어시장을 새로운 역사성과 장소성을 갖춘 국제수준의 문화 관광 명소로 만드는 새로운 개념의 상생(相生) 플랫폼을 제안했다. 단순히 시장만 있는 것이 아니라 카페, 양념집, 키즈카페, 쇼핑공간 등 다양한 요소들을 통해 방문객들을 유입시키고, 바다와 포구를 전망할 수 있는 적극적으로 열린 공간은 많은 이들에게 소래포구의 정취를 느낄 수 있게 한다. 상생 플랫폼은 세 가지 요소의 상징성을 모티브로 만든 새로운 마켓플레이스다. 한두 개의 새우 파시에서 시작되어 지금의 소래포구 시장이 되기까지 판매공간의 변천사를 반영한 시장유닛계획을 통해 소래의 역사가 담긴 시장을 계획했다. 북측의 인접대지 후퇴 부분을 벽으로 막지 않고 열어주어 인근 재래시장과 함께 상생할 수 있는 시장을 만들었으며, 여러 게이트와 교차로를 통해 가능한 많은 좌판들의 접근성을 높였다. 밀물과 썰물의 움직임에 의해 자연스럽게 만들어진 갯골은 늘 살아 움직이며 활기 넘치는 소래포구를 상징한다. 곳곳에 다양하게 특화된 공간들 갯골의 길을 통해 서로 상생작용을 하며 포구의 향수와 정취를 담은 명소를 구현하여 전망 좋고, 쾌적한 어시장이 될 것이다. 칠면초는 계절의 변화에 따라 다양한 모습을 보여주며 강한 생명력을 가지고 있다. 이는 지금까지 수많은 역경 속에서 소래포구를 만들고 지켜온 소래포구 상인들의 강력한 의지를 상징하는 요소로써, 건물의 야경 경관 조명에 반영되어 밤이 되면 새롭게 변신하는 공간이 된다.
