Hue, the ancient capital of Vietnam, has been honored as the National Green City by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The city is divided into Northern and Southern regions by the beautiful Huong River. In the Northern region where the old citadel is located, construction is strictly managed by the local authority. Constructions with high density and large scale are greatly restricted, which gives more space for plants and helps create a green and harmonious area. However, in the Southern region, urbanization takes place faster and there is less and less green space.
The building is an office which is located on a beautiful street running along the bank of a small river in the Southern region. This is one of the greenest streets that remain in this area. Despite this, in recent years, the street still cannot protect itself from the impacts of the rapid urbanization. Along the street, there have been constructions with very high density, which affects the overall landscape. Likewise, before renovation, the original building was also built with 100% density. Therefore, after buying this property, the architect had a simple idea for turning it into an office: creating an architectural form that appears friendly and harmonious, and that has a symbiotic relationship with the surroundings. The building helps heal the wounds caused by the urbanization process on the street.
The solution is as follows: First, we replace the front half of the building with an area for plants and a vine trellis. The aim is to help the office completely blend in with the landscape around it and let nature cover and protect the space for use. This area is used for reception. Then, at the remaining area behind, we put another floor on top. The ground floor is a model studio and the first floor is the office for the architects. Both of the spaces are completely open to the front space that is covered by the plants and vine trellis. People in the building will feel like the space for use is doubled.
The people, the plants and the building have a symbiotic relationship with each other and they become a single unit. Every day, people take care of the plants and the building. On the stormy days in Hue city every year, the building covers and protects the plants and people. And on summer days with high temperature, the plants provide shade for the building and the people below. The architects hope that this is a simple and effective solution which can be applied for every building with high density in order to bring back the original greenness to the street. 공생 베트남의 고대 수도인 후는 세계자연기금에 의해 국가 녹색 도시로 선정되었다. 이 도시는 아름다운 후옹 강에 의해 북부와 남부 지역으로 나뉜다. 오래된 요새가 있던 북부지역은 지방 당국에 의해 건설이 엄격히 관리된다. 고밀도, 대규모의 건설이 상당히 제한적이기 때문에 넓은 녹지공간을 조성하고 있다. 그러나, 남부지역은 도시화가 빠르게 확산되어 녹지 공간이 점점 줄어 들고 있다.
사무실로 쓰이는 이 건물은 남부 지역의 작은 강둑을 따라 아름다운 거리에 자리잡고 있다. 이 지역에 남아 있는 가장 푸르른 거리 중 하나이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 최근 몇 년 동안, 거리는 급속한 도시화의 영향으로부터 스스로 보호할 수 없게 되었다. 거리를 따라 매우 조밀하게 건설된 건물은 거리의 전체적인 풍경에 영향을 미친다.
개조 전의 원래의 건물은 100%의 밀도로 지어졌다. 건축가는 이 건물을 구입한 후 이 건물을 사무실로 만들기 위한 간단한 아이디어를 제시했다. 바로 친근하고 조화로우면서도 주변 환경과 공생 관계를 가지는 건축 양식을 만드는 것이었다. 도시화 과정으로부터 상처받은 거리 풍경을 치유하는데 도움이 되고자 했다.
이를 위한 해결책은 다음과 같다. 건물 정면의 반을 식물과 포도 덩굴이 올라갈 수 있는 격자 구조물로 대체하는 것이었다. 이는 사무실이 주변 풍경과 완전히 조화를 이룰 수 있고, 사용 공간을 자연으로 덮고 보호할 수 있게 하는 방법이었다. 이 공간은 리셉션 공간이 될 것이다. 1층은 모델 스튜디오로, 2층은 건축사 사무소로 사용된다. 이 두 공간은 식물과 포도 덩굴로 둘러싸인 격자 구조물로 뒤덮인 입면을 향해 완전히 열려 있는 공간이다. 이를 통해 건물에 있는 사람들은 사용 공간이 두배로 증가한 것처럼 느끼게 될 것이다.
사람과 식물, 건물은 서로 공생 관계에 있으며, 단일 단위가 된다. 사람들은 매일같이 식물과 건물을 돌본다. 도시에 폭풍우가 오는 날이면 건물은 식물과 사람을 감싸고 보호한다. 그리고 온도가 높은 여름철에는 식물이 건물과 사람들에게 그늘을 제공한다. 건축가는 이러한 방법을 통해 기존의 푸르름을 거리로 다시 가져올 수 있다고 믿으며, 높은 밀도의 건물에 적용할 수 있는 간단하고 효과적인 해결책이 될 것이라고 생각했다. 글 제공: 콩 신 아키텍츠
